Weekend Division II:

CAHL Cup Champion Tyro Maniacs

Silver Medal Winning Pylons

The 2007 CAHL Champion Pylons faced off the Tyro Maniacs for the 2007-2008 CAHL Cup Championship on Friday night at Cardel Place. Johnny Barker put the Tyro Maniacs on top just less than three minutes after the opening face off. Teammate Shawn Idt added one more before the buzzer to enter the middle period with a two score lead.

The Pylons #95 Kevin Donovan used his rocket like speed to score a pair of goals in the second period. Donovan almost had a hat trick on a breakaway as he went in all alone and made a great deke however the Maniacs goalie Warner Johnston followed the move perfectly and thwarted the puck with his left pad.

David Hughes made some strong saves for the Pylons as well and denied a total of 30 shots.

The Maniacs also got plenty of offence with a hat trick from Adam Aucoin, four goals and three assists for a fantastic seven point night from Mathew Cobb. Braden Dion and Jason Henderson each fired in a puck as well. 

Shawn Idt added one more goal after his first period marker and also had three assists for a remarkable five point match.

Johnny Barker not only opened the scoring he also scored twice more in the second period to tally five points in the first two periods alone. He added one more assist in the final frame to end the night with a six point game and was awarded the CAHL 2007-2008 Playoff MVP Trophy.

The Tyro Maniacs captain and leader Greg Schamp was presented with the CAHL Cup to celebrate with his team mates while the Pylons were awarded with the CAHL Silver Medals.
