Weekend
Division:
2007 CAHL Cup
Champion Pylons
The
Pylons are the 2007 CAHL Cup Champions
as they defeated the
Cyclones
6-2 and the other contenders
in the Weekend Division,
Hazards
and Rug
Doctors, both lost by default due to an insufficient number of
players.
Pylons captain Brian Abildgaard
powered his team to the victory and was awarded the CAHL 2007
Playoff MVP Trophy for his incredible hat trick, five point
performance.
Russ Bechtold notched an
outstanding five points as well with four assists and a goal
early in the final frame.
Keegan Donovan also had a
great match for the Pylons as he scored a pair of goals and
assists which included a breakaway goal with just five seconds
left in the contest. Team mate
Tom Sparks contributed an
assist as well.
Between the pipes, the
CAHL 2006-2007 Top Goalie Trophy winner
Martin Gregoire was
awesome and denied 19 of the 21 shots fired his way for a top
flight .905 save percentage.
Davin Johnsrud
opened the scoring
with a huge breakaway goal midway through the first period for
the Cyclones. Defenceman
Mike Wroblewsky hit
the back of the net late in the middle period to cut the deficit
to one goal and change the score from 3-1 to 3-2 at the time.
Cyclone
Mark De Souza had a great
night as he set up both scores to finish with two points.
Paul Chateau assisted on
Mike Wroblewsky's
goal.

CAHL 2007 Top
Female Defenceman Trophy Winner
Christina De Souza
was awarded the CAHL 2007 Top Female Defenceman Trophy for her
excellent season as she topped all female defenceman in scoring.

Rug Doctors
vs. Cyclones on Friday, August 24
Jason Wood was the
Cyclones player of the game as his
goal knocked the 2-0 deficit down to 2-1 and set the stage for
the eventual 3-2 comeback
win against the Rug
Doctors.
Jeremy Kander also
scored for the Cyclones while
Christina De Souza
contributed an assist.
Goalie
Matt Waldorf made some nice stops as he turned aside a dozen
shots for the victory.
The Rug Doctors player of the game
Andy Leung made 19 stops
which included a huge save on a point blank shot which was
following up with a glove stop on the quick rebound.
Clark
Piechotta powered the Rug Doctor offence as he scored a goal
and an assist.
Ross Peak also scored
while Josh Caswell picked up an assist.

Hazards vs.
Cyclones on Friday, August 17
The
Hazards
player of the game Steve Runcie
had an outstanding performance as he racked up a five point
night with a hat trick and two assists to help pull his team to
a Friday night win against the
Cyclones.
Josh Horning was next in
line for the Hazards as he scored a pair of goals and assists
for an awesome total of four points.
Taylor MacDonald and
Jon Ohler both finished with great three point efforts.
Tim Barnes and
Ryan Carey each set up a
couple of goals while
Andrew Arnold hit the
back of the mesh once.
Warner Johnston was top
notch between the pipes as he turned aside 28 pucks for the
victory.
Number 11
Roy Canteras led the
Cyclone offence with two big goals.
Defenceman
Mike Wroblewsky had a
two point night as well and also made a great defensive play as
he deflected an otherwise dangerous short range slap shot
harmlessly over the glass and into the safety mesh.
Fellow Cyclones Jason Wood
and
Christine De Souza
fired in a goal apiece while Jeremy Kander
and
Carson Boyd each notched
an assist. Jeremy Kander's
point also regained his team lead in scoring.

Snipers vs.
Cyclones on Friday, August 10
The
Cyclones player of the game
Jeremy Kander had a
super hat trick performance to lead his team to thrilling
7-6 win. His team overcame
a late two goal deficit with three unanswered goals in a span of
just two minutes and two seconds. The third and game winning
goal hit the back of the net with just fifty six seconds showing
on the third period game clock.
Jason Wood and
Joel Nedohin both had a
big two point efforts for the Cyclones as
Jason Wood blasted in two
goals while
Joel Nedohin notched two
assists.
Cyclones defenceman
Mike Wroblewsky scored
the tying goal with just 1:10 left the game.
Davin Johnsrud and
Carey Dumont each
collected an assist.
The Cyclones goalie
Matt Waldorf turned aside
a total of 20 pucks and made some stellar saves for the victory.
Jeff Stevenson had his
third player of the game honours of the season for the
Snipers as he tallied a couple of goals and assists for a
towering total of four points.
Chris Bierwagon and
Pat Smith each supplied the
Snipers with great three point efforts.
Bierwagon rifled in a
pair of goals and an assist while
Smith had the opposite with
two assists and a goal.
Alex Fraser scored a huge
short handed goal late in the third frame and notched an assist
as well for a big two point match.
Ian Sexton and
Brent Howard
also contributed an assist apiece.
Snipers goalie
Josh Wildey rounded up 16
pucks which included some nice stops on the night.

Pylons vs.
Cyclones on Friday, August 3
22-10-77: the jersey
numbers of the the
Pylons dominant line featuring
Brendan Waters,
Russ Bechtold, and captain
Brian Abildgaard. The
trio was in on every goal and combined for a total of 13 points.
The Pylons player of
the game Brendan Waters
scored a hat trick and two assists for a superb five point
night.
Russ Bechtold accounted
for a pair of goals and assists for an excellent total of four
points.
Brian Abildgaard had a
great four point match as well with four assists.
Keith Hughes also
contributed an assist for the Pylons.
The CAHL 2006-2007 Top Goalie Trophy winner
Martin Gregoire made a
terrific glove save on a breakaway opportunity early in the game
and had a super first period as he knocked down 18 of the 19
shots aimed his way.
Gregoire finished with a
total of 42 stops in the game.
Joel Nedohin of the
Cyclones had a big two point night to
move into a three way tie for the team scoring lead with
Jeremy Kander and
Davin Johnsrud. However
Nedohin holds the tie
breaker as he has the most goals of the trio.
Cyclones defenceman
Mark De Souza scored
midway through the second period to reduce the Pylons lead from
3-1 to 3-2 and helped turn the tide into an eventual
6-5 victory for the
Cyclones.

Tornadoes vs.
Cyclones on Friday, July 27
Kenton Lefthand
was spectacular as he
scored four goals and four assists to power the
Tornadoes to a Friday evening win
against the
Cyclones.
Fellow Tornadoes
Stan Mazursky and
Ryan
Ewasiuk
made huge contributions as well with
Mazursky netting a hat
trick while
Ewasiuk notched
a total of four points.
Joe Nitychoruk also
scored his fifth of the season.
Tornadoes goaltender
Rob O'Donnell deflected
away 13 pucks for his second straight victory.
Goal per game scorer
Joel Nedohin fired his
his sixth goal in just six games for the Cyclones. Goalie
Joe Leung put together
some nice stops as he denied 27 shots through the three periods.

Potters vs.
Cyclones on Friday, July 20
The Potters player of the game
Jason Villeneuve,
Brendan Engdahl, and
Scott Roy paved the way
towards a victory against the
Cyclones with an incredible eight,
nine, and seven points respectively.
Brandon Gramlich,
Potters captain
Greg Bergeron, and
Dustyn Auramenko
had an awesome five points apiece. Team mate
Sean Appleton had a huge
four point night.
Potters goalie
Thomas Waters maintained
his first overall position in the goalie standings with another
good game and continues to be undefeated with a perfect 6-0-0
record.
Cyclones player of the game
Jeremy Kander regained
his team lead in points with a great two goal match.
Davin Johnsrud
contributed an assist to stay right near the top and is just one
point behind
Kander.
Joel Nedohin scored his
fifth goal in just his fifth game.
Goalie
Joe Leung had some big
saves for the Cyclones as he finished with a total of 30 stops
on the night.

Rug Doctors
vs. Cyclones on Friday, July 13
Player of the game Cole Piechotta and
Ross Peak were a lethal
combination as each player launched in a hat trick and an assist
to power the Rug
Doctors to a
7-6 win against the
Cyclones on Friday night.
Clark
Piechotta also scored for the Rug Doctors with a goal at the
9:20 mark of the first period. Defenceman and captain
Chris Quon notched an
assist to continue his two game point streak.
The CAHL 2006-2007 Top Female Player Trophy winner
Helen Buie had a big two
point night with a pair of assists while team mates
Lindsey Stilling
and
Haley Neilson
contributed an assist apiece.
The Rug Doctors goalie Andy Leung
stopped 23 shots and ensured the win when he made a spectacular
pad stack save on a breakaway with just 10 seconds left in the
game to keep the 7-6 lead.
Carey Dumont was the
player of the game for the Cyclones as he led the team with a
hat trick performance. Davin Johnsrud
had a big match as well with a goal and an assist and now is
tied with team mate
Jeremy Kander for the
most points on the Cyclones.
Joel Nedohin and
Steve McKay and also
scored for the Cyclones while Paul Chateau
collected an assist.
Goaltender
Joe Leung made some nice
stops which included an outstanding save with his right pad on a
breakaway deke attempt in the final period.

Cyclones on Friday, July 6
David Shierman powered
the
Extreme to a win over the Cyclones
on Friday with an incredible five goal and three assist player
of the game performance.
Dallas Bassen also
notched eight points for the Extreme while team mate
Matt Brodie was close
behind with seven points.
Isaac Reid and
Kris Pickering both
contributed six points while Danny James
collected two points and
Mitch Brodie scored once.
Extreme goaltender Ian Brunton
finished with 18 saves and a pair of assists for the win.
Roy Canteras,
Jason Wood,
Paul Chateau,
Davin Johnsrud and
Stephanie Wilde
provided the offence for the Cylcones.
The Cyclones goalie
Joe Leung turned aside a
total of 33 shots which included some big stops on the night.

Cyclones on Friday, June 22
Joel Nedohin propelled
the Cyclones to a
5-2 win against the
Tornadoes with a tremendous hat
trick needing only the first two periods to score all three
goals.
Roy Canteras and
Jeremy Kander also
scored for the Cyclones while
Gary Leblanc and
Davin Johnsrud had big
two point games with a pair of assists apiece.
Mike Wroblewsky,
Ed Powers, and
Mark De Souza each
contributed an assist for the win.
Cyclones goalie
Matt Waldorf completed the
match with an awesome .926 save percentage as he turned aside 25
of the 27 pucks aimed his way through the three periods.
Jamie Ryan was the
Tornadoes player of the game for the second time this season.
Ryan picked up his team
leading fifth point in just his third game when he scored in the
midway point of the second period.
Stan Mazursky got the
Tornadoes on the score board at 9:28 of the opening frame which
gave his team an early 1-0 lead.
Joe Nitychoruk and
Patricio
Inostroza assisted on the goal.
Tornadoes goaltender
Rob O'Donnell stopped 19
shots which included some key saves throughout the game.

Cyclones on Friday, June 15
Kevin Donovan was an
offensive force for the
Pylons as he scored four goals and
three assists in the Friday night victory against the
Cyclones.
Jim Madden fired in a great
hat trick for the Pylons as well. Pylons defenceman
Dan Wahl notched four points on
the night. Team mate James Verbeem collected three points while
Brian Abildgaard and
Russ Bechtold each
contributed two points. Goaltender
David Hughes started the
game by stopping all nine shots aimed his way in the first
period and continued from there towards the win.
Player of the game
Mike Wroblewsky and Jeremy Kander each rifled in a goal for the
Cyclones as
Mark De Souza and
Roy Canteras contributed the assists. Goalie Joe Leung finished
with some nice stops as he turned aside 25 shots on the night.

Cyclones vs.
Rug Doctors on Saturday, June 9
The Rug Doctors
defeated the
Cyclones in a nail biting 2-1 win on
Saturday night.
Rug Doctor Jeff Chang
made the difference on the score board by breaking a 1-1 tie at
the 9:35 mark of the third period with a great backhand goal
that was assisted by Cole Piechotta. Brad Rogan and Clark
Piechotta also contributed assists on the night.
The Rug Doctor's
goalie Andy Leung was near perfect as he stopped 18 of 19 shots
aimed his way for a fantastic .947 save percentage. He ensured
that his team was going home with the win when he made two
excellent saves as the Cyclones had a pair of great chances
right at the doorstep by his left side of the crease late in the
game.
Jason Wood provided
the firepower for the Cyclones with a goal just 2:10 into the
first period. Cyclones goaltender Joe Leung made some big saves
throughout the match including a huge glove grab on a slap shot
from the side boards during the middle frame.
