Weeknight Division I:

CAHL Cup Champion Extraordinary Gentlemen

Silver Medal Winning QMax Cougars

The QMax Cougars were up against the first place Extraordinary Gentlemen for the CAHL Cup Championship on Tuesday night at Cardel Place.

In the first round, the Extraordinary Gentlemen had to overcome the Shamrocks who were led by back to back 100 point getter Geoff Zimmerman while the QMax Cougars had to pass the Shockers who had six different scorers that averaged a goal every other game.

Dickie McNabb opened the scoring for the Gentlemen less than two minutes into the match. Shortly after Brad Kennedy evened things up for the Cougars with a score at 10:01.

Gentlemen Dickie McNabb went on to collect a hat trick as he scored two more goals in the first period and finished the trio in a span of only six minutes and 47 seconds.  

Jason Cirankewitch fired in a puck before the end of the initial frame to send his team into the first intermission with a 4-1 lead.

The second period focused on Devon Henderson as he made many great saves for the Cougars including some key point blank range stops to keep the Gentlemen from adding more than one goal to their lead.

Gentlemen Tyler Heatley had the only score of the period as he rifled in a virtually unstoppable top corner shot.

Scott Frost notched a hat trick in the final frame for the Gentlemen while captain Chris Wilkins and Jason Cirankewitch each got a goal apiece.

The Gentlemen goalie Dave Inthasane was great throughout the game even as the Cougars got some big chances and wired some booming slap shots his way. The Cougars didn't hit the back of the net again until the third period when captain Reagan Lutz scored a goal which was assisted by John Sands. 

Dickie McNabb was awarded the CAHL Playoff MVP Trophy for his superb hat trick performance which included the game winner and secured his team the critical early lead. McNabb also had two assists for a total of five points.

The Extraordinary Gentlemen captain Chris Wilkins was presented with the CAHL Cup as his team celebrated their great championship season.

Wednesday, May 7th:

Shamrocks vs. Extraordinary Gentlemen

The 2006-2007 CAHL Cup Champion Shamrocks faced off against this season's first place Division I Extraordinary Gentlemen in the quest for the CAHL Cup Championship.

Geoff Zimmerman, the winner of the CAHL 2006-2007 Playoff MVP Trophy, Top Scorer Trophy, All-Star MVP Trophy, 100 Point Season Trophy, and 50 Goal Season Trophy was in all every score for his team with two goals and an assist.

Zimmerman was a threat to score every time he had the puck however the Gentlemen goalie Dave Inthansane was a virtual force field protecting his net as he stopped 44 of 47 shots for a .937 save percentage.

The Gentlemen were led to the win with superb offence from scoring sensations Scott Serwa and Scott Frost who both fired in hat tricks. Captain Chris Wilkins, Dustin Schnurer, Robert Czank, Dickie McNabb , and Ryan Campbell each scored a goal apiece.

The Extraordinary Gentlemen will now await the winner of tonight's match up between the Shockers and QMax Cougars to see who they will face off against in the quest for the CAHL Cup Championship.
