Division II Playoffs:

Tornadoes vs. Snipers on Monday, August 27

The Tornadoes defeated the Snipers 9-7 in an exciting back and fourth playoff contest on Monday night.

 

Player of the game Logan Dixon propelled the Tornadoes with an excellent hat trick. Stan Mazursky had a great three point night as well with a goal and two assists.

 

Ryan Ewasiuk scored the eventual game winning goal with a perfect top shelf backhand shot with just 5:33 left in the final period to break the 7-7 deadlock.

 

The Snipers pulled their goalie for the extra attacked however the Tornadoes responded and Steve Foster added an empty net insurance marker with 36 seconds left.

 

Patricio Inostroza also scored for the Tornadoes while Kenton Lefthand and Tommy McIvor notched one and two assists respectively.

 

Tornadoes goalie Rob O'Donnell came up with some nice stops for the big playoff victory.

 

The Snipers player of the game Jamie Sexton went in on a breakaway during the middle period and perfectly executed a forehand to backhand deke move to score his first of two goals on the night. Jamie Sexton also had an assist for a total of three points.

 

Pat Smith, Jeremy Rogers, and Jeff Stevenson each notched three points apiece for the Snieprs as well. Smith and Rogers both fired in a pair of goals and an assist while Stevenson had the opposite with one goal and two helpers.

 

Snipers Alex Fraser, Chris Bierwagon, and Trent Ranahan all contributed a couple of assists while Ian Sexton had one assist.

 

Goaltender Josh Wildey denied some great chances by the Tornadoes and finished with 18 stops.

CAHL 2007 MVP Trophy Winner

The Snipers top scorer Jeff Stevenson accounted for an amazing 20.8% of his team's total offence, the highest percentage in the CAHL, as he scored 14 goals, 13 assists, and 27 points in the regular season. Jeff Stevenson was awarded the CAHL 2007 MVP Trophy for his outstanding season.

Tornadoes vs. Snipers on Wednesday, August 22

Player of the game Brian Samoswski rifled in both goals for the Tornadoes in their loss to the Snipers on Wednesday night. Tornadoes goaltender Rob O'Donnell deflected away 16 pucks in the match.

 

Marksman Alex Fraser was the Snipers player of the game as he scored a superb hat trick and an assist for a total of four points.

 

Fellow Sniper Jeff Stevenson also had an awesome four point showing and finished the season as his team's leader in points with 27.

 

Snipers Jamie Sexton and Jeremy Rogers both notched great three point nights. Joe Gay, Ian Sexton, and Campbell Dansereau each scored a goal and an assist. Trent Ranahan and Pat Smith also launched in a goal apiece.

 

Between the pipes, Snipers goalie Josh Wildey possessed an elite .939 save percentage as he backstopped his team to the victory.

Snipers vs. Blades of Steel on Friday, August 17

The Blades of Steel defeated the Snipers on Friday and were led by the player of the game Brad Roy who hit the back of the net an incredible total of five times. Roy also assisted three others for a mammoth total of eight points.  

 

Captain James Werner, Graeme Kozin, and Shawn Gallahger all had towering games for the Blades of Steel as well. James Werner had total of five points while Graeme Kozin and Shawn Gallahger notched four points apiece.

 

Sheldon Harris contributed three points for the Blades of Steel. Shawn Henry, Paul Reardigan, Adam Snelling, Bret Schott, and Jeremy Raymaker each notched a pair of points. Goalie Jennifer Lynn Hanby made some big saves for the win.

 

Jeff Stevenson rifled in a pair of goals and an assist for the Snipers' player of the game honours. Pat Smith also had a great two goal match while Jeremy Rogers had a pair of assists. Andrew Banister and Dan Kopcinovic each collected an assist in the contest.

 

Snipers goaltender Josh Wildey thwarted an enormous amount of scoring chances as he was faced with an immense number of black discs fired his way throughout the three periods.

Snipers vs. Cyclones on Friday, August 10

The Cyclones player of the game Jeremy Kander had a super hat trick performance to lead his team to thrilling 7-6 win. His team overcame a late two goal deficit with three unanswered goals in a span of just two minutes and two seconds. The third and game winning goal hit the back of the net with just fifty six seconds showing on the third period game clock.

 

Jason Wood and Joel Nedohin both had a big two point efforts for the Cyclones as Jason Wood blasted in two goals while Joel Nedohin notched two assists.

 

Cyclones defenceman Mike Wroblewsky scored the tying goal with just 1:10 left the game. Davin Johnsrud and Carey Dumont each collected an assist.

 

The Cyclones goalie Matt Waldorf turned aside a total of 20 pucks and made some stellar saves for the victory.

 

Jeff Stevenson had his third player of the game honours of the season for the Snipers as he tallied a couple of goals and assists for a towering total of four points.

 

Chris Bierwagon and Pat Smith each supplied the Snipers with great three point efforts. Bierwagon rifled in a pair of goals and an assist while Smith had the opposite with two assists and a goal.

 

Alex Fraser scored a huge short handed goal late in the third frame and notched an assist as well for a big two point match. Ian Sexton and Brent Howard also contributed an assist apiece.

 

Snipers goalie Josh Wildey rounded up 16 pucks which included some nice stops on the night.

Snipers vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, August 3

Jamie Sexton made a great forehand to backhand move to score his first goal of the night during the second period on a shorthanded breakaway which was set up by team mate Chris Bierwagon. Sexton added another goal in the final period to go along with an assist in the first frame to top all Snipers with a three point player of the game effort which helped lead his team to a win over the Rug Doctors on Friday night.

 

Campbell Dansereau fired in a couple of goals for the Snipers as well while  Jeff Stevenson, Alex Fraser, and Dan Kopcinovic each had a goal and an assist.

 

In addition to setting up Jamie Sexton's breakaway goal Chris Bierwagon also collected another helper late in the first period for a solid two point night. Ian Sexton and Brent Howard contributed an assist apiece.

 

Rug Doctor Garhett Piechotta, who already has five goals in just his last seven games, went in all alone on a breakaway after a receiving a great pass from team mate Cole Piechotta. Garhett Piechotta made a deke move however the Snipers goalie Josh Wildey knocked the puck away with his left pad. Josh Wildey tallied 16 stops and only let one puck get by him all game for the win.

 

Ross Peak scored the lone goal for the Rug Doctors which was assisted by Cole Piechotta and Kevin Wong.

 

Snipers forward Alex Fraser made a beauty drop pass to Jamie Sexton who rifled the puck towards the net only to be thwarted by the Rug Doctors player of the game and goalie Andy Leung. Shortly after the Snipers had a two man breakaway chance with a total of three shots however they were once again denied by Andy Leung. Leung notched a total of 38 saves in the match.

Snipers vs. Rockets on Wednesday, July 25

The line of Eric Havinga, Jordan Pinkster, and Mike Parton was dominant as the three forwards combined for a startling total of 15 points to fuel the Rockets to a victory against the Snipers.

 

The Rockets player of the game Eric Havinga was responsible for a stunning total of four goals and two assists. The other two thirds of the line Jordan Pinkster and Mike Parton covered five and four points respectively.

 

Team mate Brian Havinga also had a four point night. The Rockets leading scorer Scott Bouwman launched in a hat trick and a pair of helpers for a total of five points. Steven Havinga notched three points while Kurt Bransma picked up a pair of points. Tim Ryskamp contributed an assist.

 

Rockets goalie Alex Nutma denied a massive one timed slap slot with his right pad in the first period and finished with 15 saves for the win.

 

Jeff Stevenson was the Snipers player of the game as he fired in a goal and an assist for a two point match. Pat Smith also scored for the Snipers with a goal in the first frame which was set up by Alex Fraser.

 

Snipers goaltender Josh Wildey made a great save on a short range rebound chance after he turned aside the initial shot late in the first period. He went on to complete the night with a huge total of 42 saves.

Snipers vs. Gladiators on Tuesday, July 17

Jeff Stevenson propelled the Snipers to a Tuesday night victory over the Gladiators with a fantastic five goal and two assist player of the game performance.

 

Snipers leading scorer Jamie Sexton had an awesome five point night while Jeremy Rogers wasn't far behind with three points. Alex Fraser and Chris Bierwagon both finished with big two point efforts while Joe Gay and Dan Kopcinovic each contributed an assist.

 

Fellow Sniper Campbell Dansereau controlled the puck all the way from centre ice to deep into the offensive zone and around the net to score his second goal in as many games.

 

Josh Wildey was excellent between the pipes as he collected a total of 35 saves which included a .952 save percentage in the middle period as he stopped 20 of the 21 pucks aimed his way in that period alone.

 

The Gladiators speedy center and player of the game Sid Abdallah led the way for his team with a great two goal and one assist night. One of Abdallah's goals was shorthanded as well.

 

Team mate Zine Hussein had a three point match as well with three assists and continues to lead his team in points.

 

Gladiator Adel Fares launched in a shorthanded goal and an assist for a pair of points. Defenceman Jim Murphy fired in a power play goal early in the game and also made a memorable play when he broke up a two on one pass attempt with a perfect poke check.

 

The Gladiators goalie Lino Martino made a colossal save early in the second period when a turnover behind his net led to a huge point blank slap shot from the dangerous goal per game scorer Alex Fraser who has five goals in just six games. Martino finished with a total of 27 stops on the night.

Snipers vs. Ice Storm on Tuesday, July 10

Goaltender Josh Wildey stopped 46 of the 49 shots fired his way for a superb .939 save percentage to lead the Snipers to a close 4-3 victory against the Ice Storm on Tuesday night.

 

A critical moment occurred in the final period when Wildey stopped what appeared to be an almost certain goal as a perfect feed from behind his net went out in front to set up a one timed point blank shot. That save preserved the 4-3 score for his team.

 

Jamie Sexton started off a four goal second period outburst for the Snipers as he raced past a defender for the puck and scored on the breakaway. Sexton also collected an assist on the night for a total of two points.

 

Number 27 on the Snipers, Pat Smith, first stole the puck in the Ice Storm's defensive zone, then he went in all alone on a breakaway and finished it off with an excellent forehand to backhand deke goal.

 

Alex Fraser scored the Snipers game winner at the 6:04 mark of the middle period and also picked up an assist on Jamie Sexton's goal. Team mate Jeremy Rogers contributed  a pair of points as well with a big goal and one helper. Snipers defenceman Trent Ranahan notched an assist in the match.

 

Nick Oriold was the Ice Storm player of the game as he had a great two goal night and now has four points in just his last two games.

 

The CAHL 2006-2007 Top Defenceman Trophy winner Martin Robichaud finished the game with a strong two assist performance. Team mate Martin Bownes assisted on Oriold 's second goal of the match.

 

Ice Storm Mike Cook rifled in an awesome top shelf wrist shot in the second period for a shorthanded goal however what made this even more incredible was that his team was actually down two men during a five on three situation.

 

Goalie Mark Cole made some big saves for the Ice Storm especially his excellent butterfly save on a breakaway in the first period.

Hazards vs. Snipers on Friday, July 6

J.R. Mitdital was the player of the game for the Hazards as he fired in a hat trick and an assist to lead his team to victory over the Snipers.

 

Fellow Hazard Josh Horning was great as well as he scored four goals and an assist on the night.

 

Tim Barnes scored two big goals for the Hazards while Dave Bates, Greg Schamps and Mike Greffen each fired in a goal apiece.

 

Hazards goalie Warner Johnston made some nice stops as he turned aside 19 pucks for the win.

 

Pat Smith captured the player of the game honours for the Snipers with his excellent hat trick and one assist effort. Team mate Chris Bierwagon rifled in a huge hat trick as well.

 

Sniper Jeff Stevenson had a big three point night with a goal and two helpers. The leading team scorer Jamie Sexton collected a goal and an assist. Jeremy Rogers also scored while Brent Howard contributed an assist.

 

The Snipers goalie Josh Wildey deflected a total of 23 shots and made some big stops throughout the three periods.

Snipers vs. Extreme on Thursday, June 28

David Shierman had an excellent five goal and four assist player of the game performance to led his Extreme to a Thursday night win against the Snipers.

 

Goaltender Josh Wildey was the player of the game for the Snipers as he finished with a colossal total of 53 saves. Wildey stopped a short range shot which was set up immediately after a face off win in the first period. Later in the same period he made a butterfly save on a one timed shot which was fired from just a mere few feet in front in him. Wildey capped off his great performance with a tremendous glove grab on a slap shot which was rifled from the slot area late in the third period.

 

Snipers Brent Howard, Chris Bierwagon, and Alex Fraser were the goal scorers on the night while Trent Ranahan and Jamie Sexton contributed the assists.

 

Isaac Reid, Matt Brodie, and Danny James each had six points for the Extreme. Todd Bassen and Dallas Bassen notched four points apiece. Kris Pickering scored once while Rance Goulter contributed an assist.

 

Extreme goalie Ian Brunton made an outstanding save on a two man breakaway in the middle period and even stopped the follow up rebound chance.

Pylons vs. Snipers on Friday, June 22

The Snipers possessed a 4-3 lead over the Pylons with less than three minutes to go when Pylon Brendan Waters scored a colossal power play goal to tie the game with just 2:12 showing on the score clock.

 

It turned out to be the final goal of the game and both teams went home with a 4-4 tie.

 

Keegan Donovan led the Pylons with an awesome four point player of the game performance scoring a hat trick and assisting on the late game tying power play marker. Shawn Bellingham also contributed an assist on the tying goal while Brian Abildgaard assisted on Donovan's second goal of the match.

 

Pylons goalie Martin Gregoire stopped 23 shots including a big save on a great short range chance on his left side in the first period.

 

Jamie Sexton was the Snipers player of the game as he scored a pair of goals. Sexton fired in first goal of the game on a breakaway which was set up from a big pass by Pat Smith. Smith also rifled in a goal of his own later in the game as well to finish with two big points.

 

Sniper Campbell Dansereau scored early in the middle period to give his team a 3-2 lead at the time. Andrew Banister and Jeremy Rogers each notched an assist on the night.

 

Snipers goaltender Josh Wildey came up with some big stops such as when he slid across his crease from right to left to deny a close in one timer in the initial period.

Snipers vs. Blades of Steel on Tuesday, June 12

Paul Reardigan ignited the offence for the Blades of Steel with a great forehand to backhand move on a breakaway goal midway through the opening period. The Blades of Steel never looked back and continued on to defeat the Snipers.

 

Jamie Doucette was the Blades of Steel player of the game as he collected a hat trick with a pair of goals in the first frame and another goal in the third.

 

Paul Reardigan scored once more in the late in the second period to finish with two goals and an assist.

 

Blades of Steel defenceman Shawn Henry racked up a pair of goals as well while Sheldon Harris, Trevor Reynolds, and Chris Hill each rifled in one goal apiece.

 

Chris Hill not only scored a goal but also had three assists for an excellent four point night. Team mate Shawn Gallahger completed the match with four points too as he set up a total of four goals. Blades of Steel captain James Werner and defenceman Andrew Smyth both contributed an assist apiece.

 

Blades of Steel goaltender Jennifer Lynn Hanby only had one puck get by her all night and finished with some great stops such as the two consecutive awesome point blank saves during a two man penalty kill situation in the second period.

 

Goalie Josh Wildey was the Snipers player of the game as he denied 34 shots which included some stellar saves such as during the first period when he made a big blocker save off a booming slap shot that was later followed up by a great glove grab off a wrist shot from the face off circle. Early in the second period he faced a point blank one timed shot opportunity and simply stoned the threat with an excellent pad save using his right leg.

 

Sniper Jamie Sexton wired in a slap shot on a power play during the second period from the top of the right face off circle and now has 23 goals in just his last 25 games.

Snipers vs. Rockets on Wednesday, June 6

Last season's CAHL MVP Trophy winner Steve Brandon set the pace early with a great back hand deke breakaway goal just 2:43 into the game. Steve Brandon added three more goals in the second frame and two more in the third for a fantastic total of six goals and one assist to lead his Rockets to victory against the Snipers.   

 

All-star Rockets Scott Bouwman and Kurt Bransma totaled an incredible six points apiece with Bouwman scoring a hat trick and three assists while Bransma notched a pair of goals and four assists.

 

The 2006-2007 CAHL Playoff MVP Trophy winner Eric Havinga, Tim Ryskamp, and all-star defenceman Jason Upton each had great three point nights. Jordan Pinkster and Cody Feenstra both had big matches for the Rockets as well with each player notching two points.

 

Rockets goalie Phil Bonk was strong between the pipes and made a tremendous glove grab during the middle period on a shot that was labeled for the top corner.

 

The Snipers player of the game Jamie Sexton led the way with an exciting penalty shot goal which displayed his speed and hands as he finished it off with an excellent backhand deke.

 

Jamie Sexton also set up a goal for a total of two points. Jeff Stevenson had a big two point effort as well with a goal and an assist.

 

Sniper Steven Farmer rifled in a laser like top corner shot in the second period while Alex Fraser, Conor Falk, and Ian Sexton also contributed goals with each player firing in one apiece. Justin Caskey and Chris Bierwagon each notched an assist for the Snipers.

 

Snipers goaltender Josh Wildey averaged 1.12 saves per minute as he turned away an incredible total of 47 shots which included a huge save on the ever dangerous 60 goal scorer Steve Brandon who went from coast to coast for the scoring chance and also on a point blank one timed shot which was set up from a perfect cross ice pass during the second period.
